Weekend around Sept 15ish 2020 (ocean/swimming pool/perm)

We met up with Lindsey Harper and her boys at Lantana Beach by Dune Deck Cafe. I was terrified the entire time because the rip current was so strong and the life guards kept walking down to warn us. Eventually I told my kids no swimming and we just played in the sand.

Wally turned 8!

I was teasing him one night by putting pants on his head and he thought it was HILARIOUS. So then he went to sleep like that a few nights in a row. Silly kid.

I permed by hair-so here's a before and after. I was sick of the humidity making it partially curly but not ALL the way curly and if I straightened it, the humidity made it curly the second I stepped outside, and if I curled it, the heat flattened it out. Getting a perm was awesome. So easy. So fast. Always looked cute. And it fell out pretty quick so it wasn't *quite* so curly and mostly just a nice even look. Fun change!

I think this was a pic from the night I permed it.

First two weeks of September 2020

We started Art Monday class with two of our friends that are also homeschooling. Jashira and her son Josh live in Bexley and I've taught him piano and we met walking our kids back and forth to school. Skyla comes to art and her and Will were in the same Kindergarten and 1st grade class. Its really great because my kids love art but I hate the mess so I put it off quite frequently and then they never get to do crafty things. But this way, I plan it ahead of time, we do it outside, and everyone's happy!

Climbing trees.

When you're playing outside on your front porch and the neighbors join in so you end up with multiple kiddie pools all in a row--fun!

This outfit was mine. Awww.

Here we met up at the park with our friend Lindsey Harper and her four boys that are roughly the same ages as my oldest four. They are also homeschooling (there is definitely a trend here--because our time slots differ now from those who go to school and also because being outside past 11am is misery).

I think this was painting mandalas day.

We got some clothes from Ruthie's friend Huxley and this dress was just especially cute on Molly.

The kids and Josh.

eating dirt in a cup with worms for our last day of our bug science unit!

The library hasn't been able to hold their usual craft classes that my kids love--but they DO have little paper bags full of one craft per month and my kids have also been loving that.

Molly's butterflies before we set them free! (Don't be confused, there are butterflies as part of the fabric)

Painting--look at our cups! haha

And the pool opened! And no one even bothered to come (because, as I anticipated, everyone in our community is old and doesn't want to come to a place like the pool--which is why they should've opened it WAY earlier so the handful of people could use it. With a sign up sheet or something.) but it is open now and we love it!

More Jumbled August because it's moving my photos all around

So because blogger puts everything in crazy order, and I don't want to spend the time to fix it, we have: a beach day. A play on the porch day. A bike ride. Photos on a Sunday. And a few around the house.

This is Delray Beach parks officially being open for the first time since COVID closures in March!!!

They play puppies and kitties together all the time and its so cute.

Homeschool snack time picnic

Russ and Grace spent the first five months of homeschooling wanting to do EXACTLY what everyone else was doing. Recently, they've given up and just go play together. Which is dangerous, but also good.

I got some sticker by number books as rewards--and my kids LOVE them! They look so cool when it's all finished.

See how there's no cupboard front on that cupboard? yeah...that was due to a recent hide and go seek game. Oops.

Looking at all these lovely photos-I can almost forget how absolutely awfully hot and humid and unbearable it was outside and how sweaty and miserable we always were when we were outside. The water saves us. During this time I was BEGGING our HOA to open our pool (several people I knew had their pools reopened) and they did not listen for that entire grueling month and for most of September. Luckily we survived and found lots of fun ways to play in water anyway--thank goodness the beaches were open again!
